i think i'd like to go back home / i'm sorry for the things i've done

i think i’d like to go back home

i dreamed that abraham lincoln came to talk to me in a dream
and said that his whole life was a series of elaborate lies
and then john wilkes boothe shot him right in the head.
john wilkes boothe was wearing a black face though,
and i remember thinking that was strange.
he didn't die right away though, lincoln, and he told black john wilkes boothe
that black john wilkes boothe had flies in his eyes
and black john wilkes boothe stepped on his head,
like you step on a watermelon
or an empty milk jug.
then i dreamed i woke up and wanted a big bowl of lucky charms cereal
even though i had no real reason to want this.
when i woke up it was raining,
very slowly and something was building up inside of me
that seemed to belong to somebody else.

i’m sorry for the things i’ve done

when he came home, there was a beautiful woman in his bathtub,
taking a bath.
he started to ask her what she was doing there,
but before he could, she said
"i am here to create order,
to cleanse.
and be careful,
several good intentions have been dropped on the kitchen floor,
make sure the children do not pick them up
and try to put them in their mouths."
then she was startled by a sound
at the window,
but it was alright
because the window was not in the bathroom.
